Registering a birth
Was your baby born? Congratulations! You must register the birth of your child within 3 working days in the municipality where baby was born. In Veldhoven you can register the birth online from the comfort of your own home.
Online birth registration
Online birth registration is possible if:
- You are married or in a registered partnership
- The parent, who is not the birthmother, acknowledged baby before the birth (if you are not married or do not have a registered partnership)
- You are a single mother
- At least one of the parents has Dutch nationality
What do you need for this
- DigiD
- The parent(s) must live at the same address in the Netherlands
- Proof of birth, given by the hospital or midwife
- If this applies to you, also:
- The certificate of acknowledgment, if the acknowledgment took place before the birth
- The certificate of name choice, if a name choice was made before the birth
- The statement of the 'Stichting Donorgegevens' for duo mothers

Do you prefer to register the birth at the town hall? Then make an appointment
Bring with you
- A valid proof of identity for yourself and the parent(s) of the child
- Your family record book or partnership record book (if you have one)
- If the child was acknowledged before the birth: the certificate of acknowledgement of the unborn child
