Voting without a Dutch passport

The municipal elections will take place on 18 March. These elections are important because they influence decisions about your neighbourhood in the coming years. Even without a Dutch passport, you may be allowed to vote.

You may vote if:

  • You were registered in your municipality on 2 February
  • You are 18 years or older on 18 March 2026
  • You are not excluded from voting in the Netherlands
  • You have Dutch or EU nationality, or you have a non-EU nationality and have lived legally in the Netherlands for at least 5 years

If you are allowed to vote, you should receive a letter from your municipality with your voting pass and instructions.

You can find all parties and candidates at veldhoven.allekandidaten.nl. You can also use the ‘kieskompas’ there — a simple tool that helps you learn more about each party’s views and find the ones that match your preferences.
